In January 2020, anthracnose lesions were observed leaves P. planted Agricultural Farm, Selangor state, Malaysia. The disease mainly affected leaves, with symptoms occurring approximately 60% incidence. Ten symptomatic sampled from three different trees farm. Symptoms initiated small circular necrotic spots that rapidly enlarged into black pale brown borders. Diseased tissues (5 × 5 mm) surface sterilized 70% ethanol 1 min, rinsed times sterile distilled water, dried filter papers, plated potato dextrose agar (PDA), incubated at 25°C 12-h photoperiod. A total seven single-spore isolates similar colony morphologies obtained tissue samples. After 7 days, colonies raised entire margin showed white-to-gray aerial mycelium, orange conidial masses center, appeared dark center reverse view. conidia one-celled, hyaline, smooth-walled, cylindrical narrowing averaged 13 15 3 4 ?m (n = 40) size. Morphological characteristics those detailed taxonomic description sp. (Prihastuti et al. 2009). For molecular identification, genomic DNA two representative isolates, PL3 PL4, was extracted fresh mycelium using DNeasy Mini Kit (Qiagen, U.S.A.). internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, actin (ACT), calmodulin (CAL) genes amplified ITS5/ITS4 (White 1990), ACT-512F/783R (Carbone Kohn 1999), CL1C/CL2C primer sets (Weir 2012). BLAST nucleotide search GenBank ITS sequences 100% identity ex-type culture ICMP 18578 (GenBank accession no. JX010171). ACT CAL C. isolate BPD-I2 nos. Pathogenicity PL4 verified four healthy detached alba. twice water before inoculation. (three inoculation sites/leaf) wounded puncturing needle through leaf cuticle inoculated wound site 10 ?l suspension (1 106 conidia/ml) 7-day-old PDA. Four used control only water. Inoculated kept humid chambers 2 weeks 98% relative humidity fluorescent light/dark period. experiment repeated times. all after whereas controls no symptoms. Fungal diseased same confirming Koch’s postulates. has been reported causing rose (Rosa chinensis) China (Feng 2019), Coffea arabica Thailand 2009), mango Vietnam (Li 2020). To our knowledge, first report Accurate identification pathogen provides foundation controlling alba. The author(s) declare conflict interest.References:Carbone, I., Kohn, M. 1999.
